Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw has teamed up with creative agency The Visionary Lab on a creative display of photography titled “Denim for Earth”, to celebrate Earth Day 2021.
This showcase highlights the work of eight up-and-coming designers and artists breathing life into discarded denim pieces and recyclable G-Star Raw’s fabrics by designing couture and art-like creations inspired by the Dutch brand’s circular innovations.
The “Denim for Earth” photography was photographed by photographer Wendelien Daan and featured artists Karim Adduchi, Charlotte Bakkenes, Yuki Isshiki, Yulia Ivanova, Bagua Jody, Majid Karrouch, Ferry Schiffelers, and Tess van Zalinge. All the artists have worked with 100 percent recyclable denim fabrics and waste supplied by G-Star, using sustainable techniques such as the Japanese Sakiori method of quilting with upcycled fabrics and natural plant-based dyeing, along with G-Star’s water-saving washing methods, to develop their creations.
With an enhanced augmented reality experience developed by artist Irma de Vries and compatible with the Moco-Play app, the exhibit is open at Rembrandt Square in Amsterdam from 22nd April 2021 to 9th May 2021. The exhibit can also be enjoyed digitally through the Moco Museum’s online gallery at www.mocomuseum.com.
