Bangladesh has maintained its position as the European Union’s leading denim garment supplier, exporting around €870 million worth of denim, equivalent to approximately $1 billion, between January and August 2026, according to Eurostat data.

Bangladesh accounted for 29.4% of the EU’s total denim imports during the period. Pakistan ranked second with a 17.78% share, followed by Turkey at 14.82%. China placed fifth with just 6.67%.
Despite holding the lead, Bangladesh’s denim exports to the EU declined by around 6% year-on-year. However, exports in August rose 13% compared with the same month last year.
Industry experts attribute Bangladesh’s success to investments in advanced machinery, high-value finishing techniques and a skilled workforce. According to BGMEA, the country has 50 denim fabric-producing factories, while at least 500 factories manufacture jeans.
Bangladesh also led denim exports to the US during the same eight-month period, securing a 26% market share and reinforcing its position in the global denim industry.
