Zara, the Inditex-owned retailer released a collection of children’s denim made in accordance with the Ellen MacArthur’s Jeans Redesign program.
The unisex collection mirrors the comfort and utility trends. Fabrics used to make the collection include a minimum of 98 percent cellulose-based fibers and contain at least 5 percent recycled content from textile origin to reduce the consumption of virgin materials. Most fabrics in the line are made with 80 percent cotton and 20 percent recycled cotton. For this collection, the brand added removable buttons and tried to avoid metal rivets or zippers and the interior pocket bags include information about how the garment is designed to be recycled.
Jeans Redesign x Zara collection includes a worker jacket, cargo jeans with an elastic waist, wide-leg relaxed fit jeans and loose-fitting jeans with a ripped knee. For baby, the collection offers a denim overshirt, overalls, pull-over denim shirt and a collared dress with pockets. Sizes from 9 months for baby to 14 years in children’s, the collection retails for $25.90-$39.90.
