Denim Focus: Could you please share with us the current scenario of the RMG sector?

Abdur Rouf: To understand the present situation of the Bangladesh RMG industry we have to go back COVID pandemic period. At that time the world’s socio-economic situation was halted and people were captivated in the home for a long time. So post post-COVID period was likely to be going out and filling the wardrobe with new clothes. Consumers started buying more and demanding further collection. As a result, Brands placed orders more than what frequently they place in the same season. But the Russia-Ukraine war has changed the global economy, particularly in the EU countries and consumers showed a conservative manner in buying fashion clothes.

So a huge unsold stock remains in the warehouses and brands also cut budgets until the stock gets finished from the shops. Now Brabds are continuing to place orders as the warehouses are out of stock of clothes.

As Bangladesh is the second largest exporter of apparel goods, global retailers and brands landed here with increased work order volume from the beginning of the current year.

However, the RMG sector is facing severe challenges in its textile sector. This industry is crucial to the country’s economy but is currently struggling due to rising gas prices, inflation, and a natural gas shortage that hinders production.

Denim Focus: What is the current business status of Dekko & Agami Accessories Ltd, what are the innovations coming?

Abdur Rouf: As the earlier forecast from the beginning of the present year economies got reopened, brands and buyers are placing more orders in the apparel industry and so as accessories suppliers we are receiving good business.

Dekko always seeks market diversification, product development, shifting to high-end accessories items, technological upgradation, design, and skill development. We are also focusing on entering into the global market by opening our own office in the major marketplaces of EU and USA.

We are working for a sustainable manufacturing process because this will enhance employee, community, and product safety. We believe in sustainable manufacturing processes and the creation of products that make us economically sound and minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources.

As the part of sustainability recycling is the most basic but also the most important green manufacturing process for Dekko. An effective recycling process can help manufacturing units reduce waste, reduce cost, and have a positive environmental impact.

Dekko is the top-ranked accessories supplier in Bangladesh so we have the confidence to get more business in the future. Because we have traceability in recycled products which is crucial for the industry as it ensures that recycled materials meet the required standards and regulations. We have traced the origin of the plastic waste, the type of plastic, the recycling process, and the final product.

Denim Focus: Dekko Accessories is participating every year in the Bangladesh Denim Expo, what are the latest innovations will you showcasing?

Abdur Rouf: As you know Dekko Accessories Ltd. is positioned as a global leader in the garment accessory sector so every year we showcase our innovation at the Denim expo to experience our groundbreaking offerings.

Since more people are getting hyped up about recycling in fashion so we are displaying valuable items that resources by reusing existing materials

Denim Focus: Plan of Dekko Accessories?

Abdur Rouf: We are engaged in constant R&D to develop new products in regular metal and plastic accessories items to enhance the look of the garment. We have also a variety of innovative products with various designs to boost competitiveness by the investment in R&D to make an omnipresent feature in this business.
