Orientation program of BGMEA’s projects SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT INVESTMENT PROGRAM in the garment industry held at Apparels Institute of Fashion and Technology (AIFT), Uttara on Sunday. Engineer Afsana Jahan, Chairman, AIFT presided over the program. A discussion meeting was held on the AIFT orientation program of various trainings under the joint program of BGMEA. The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Chief Co-ordinator BGMEA, Engineer Ahmed Tanvir and Engineer Md. Ariful Islam were present at the occasion.
BGMEA is implementing a number of projects on skill development in the readymade garment industry. The largest project undertaken by BGMEA for skill development is the SEIP project, which is being run by the Ministry of Finance and the Apparel Institute of Fashion and Technology (AIFT) with ADB funding. Under this project, people from different regions, especially women, are being trained in more than 50 training centers across the country and given jobs in different factories. Apart from this, BGMEA is working on some more projects on occupational safety and risk. BGMEA is implementing these projects with the help of development partners, local NGOs and industry academies.
