Recently Engr S.M Shahin CEO of Trouser Line Ltd shared his opinion about the denim industry with Denim Focus Team.
Denim Focus: How do you observe the recent scenario of the Denim Industry?
Engr S.M Shahin: Bangladesh is the second-largest denim producer in the world after China. We have 35 denim mills in the country which is fulfilling 50% demand. Rest demand fulfilling mostly from China, India & Pakistan. The ongoing US-China trade war brought an opportunity for the developing denim exports. Besides the opportunity some challenges also there like, Power crisis increases, price reduction by customers, lack of automation, fear of taking short lead-time orders.
Denim Focus: How can we more develop in this industry?
Engr S.M Shahin: We must concentrate on innovative ideas to accelerate the new design & trends. We also need to build expertise & skills. Efficiency is obviously needed here. We should focus on more investment in innovation. Also, Bangladesh Government has to prioritize the denim industry to make a healthy economy by denim business.
