What is Digital Textile Printing?
Digital textile printing is a process of textile and garment printing using inkjet technology. How Does the Process Work?
The first task is to create a design according to the buyer’s requirements. The design is created by any graphic design program like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. The design is create into file format, sometimes known as TIFF file. This TIFF format store image without losing any details. Then the image transfer to the pre-treated fabric with the help of inkjet technology and ink cartridges (pigment ink, acid & reactive ink, disperse ink). The first step is to pretreat the fabric with liquid solution so that it accept the dye and better absorb the color. Then it’s fed into the printer, which sprays the dye onto the fabric with tiny droplets as ordered by design and software. The final step is fixing the fabric that ensures the permanency of the design. After ink fixation the fabric is washed and dried properly.

Globally there is a growing emphasis on textile sustainability and environmental friendliness hence digital printing technologies are being preferred over traditional printing options. Digital printing enables for more sustainable and cleaner, efficient, profitable production. Conventionally, textile printing and dyeing employ many chemicals and generate large amount of wastewater. On the other hand, DTP process consume less energy and water, produces minimal industrial waste and CO2 emission. That’s why DTP is gaining popularity.
