Due to the pandemic situation, European Union and the world put the effort into textiles, clothes, footwear, and accessories supply chains, in the midst of an ongoing social and climate crisis. On another hand, the COVID has seriously impacted major manufacturing hubs (China, India, and Italy), leading to major supply disorders. Textile industry is the heart of our economy. We have developed our industry a lot and there are so many remarkable developments we have already achieved i.e Green Industry, Compliance Factory, industry best practices etc. Team Denim Focus has been taking feedback from the local and international industry stakeholders regarding their business and planning in this Md. Rokonuzzaman, FCA, Managing Director, AMANN Bangladesh and received his feedback as follows-

Our RMG industry is passing through very challenging times in this covid pandemic – disrupted supply chain, uncontrolled raw material prices along with scarcity of containers to meet the shipment deadlines forced us to an unprecedented worse situation.Besides that, factories had to invest good amount of money in health & safety and compliance, whereas, there are constant pressure from buyers to reduce the FOB which is a really a challenging proposition for the industry.

Nevertheless, the successful vaccination program in EU and US is playing a pivotal role to open the economic activities resulting the demand for apparel is increasing. Last few months, we have seen the brands are releasing orders and almost all the factories have good number of orders and running the operation with full capacities. The development pipelines is also promising and our industry is fully ready to grab the full potentials.

We can see there is good amount of interest for sustainable/recycle products from all major brands where our local manufacturers are working hard to streamline the supply chain.

The industry demonstrated strong resilience in managing these challenges and turn back well in the first wave of covid -19. It helped us to build confidence and trust on our agility to our customers and the global brands. I am very hopeful that we would be able to manage this second wave efficiently and keep this positive momentum of business in our Market.
