Germany based CHT Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. inaugurates their factory at Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ)

Germany-based CHT Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. has recently inaugurated their factory at the Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ), which is located in Sonargaon, Narayanganj in Bangladesh. CHT Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. is a subsidiary of CHT Germany GmbH, a globally active group of companies that specializes in producing specialty chemicals. The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, and was attended by various high-profile guests, including the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Industries, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP. Honorable Executive Member, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Mr. Md Ali Ahsan and Director, Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), Ms. Tanjima Binthe Mostafa were present as special f guests in the ceremony.

MGI, the parent company of MIEZ, is the first ever conglomerate in Bangladesh to be awarded a license for private economic zones. Currently, MGI has three private economic zones: Meghna Economic Zone (MEZ), Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ), and Cumilla Economic Zone (CEZ). MIEZ is the second established economic zone of MGI and is located adjacent to Dhaka-Chattogram Highway. So far, a total of 22 industries have been established inside MIEZ, with 11 of them being Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) by companies from Australia, Japan, Germany, China, Norway, Switzerland, and India.

The CEO/Chairman of the Management Board of CHT Group, Dr. Frank Naumann, and other key executives from the company, such as CFO Mr. Axel Breitling, CTO Dr. Bernhard Hettich, and Mr. Benoit Moutault, Managing Director (CHT Switzerland AG)/Group Vice President (Textile), were also present at the inauguration ceremony. The company’s decision to establish a factory in MIEZ is expected to contribute to the country’s economic growth by creating new jobs and increasing exports.
