The analysis of EU apparel import data from January to August 2023 and 2024 reveals a 3.63% decline in total imports, decreasing from US$ 61.56 billion to US$ 59.32 billion, reflecting a global trend of reduced apparel consumption. Bangladesh’s imports fell by 3.53% to US$ 12.91 billion. Notably, China’s imports decreased by 4.10% to US$ 15.62 billion, Turkey’s by 7.52% to US$ 6.84 billion, India’s by 2.73% to US$ 3.34 billion, and Vietnam’s by 2.09% to US$ 2.65 billion. Conversely, Cambodia saw a 12.78% increase, Pakistan 7.3% and Morocco 6.09% increase, indicating a potential shift in sourcing preferences.
These variations among suppliers suggest nuanced changes in global supply chains, warranting further analysis in price changes and other factors causing market share shifts.
