We expect the textile clothing sectors in Bangladesh will be booming in coming year- Mahbub Khan HimelThe whole world has been suffering a lot from the COVID-19 pandemic. Every sector of the industry has been affected. The textile industry is the main remittance earning source for Bangladesh. This industry has been affected a lot due to lockdown everywhere and a shortage of orders. As everywhere vaccination has been started and the COVID-19 infection situation is better now. Fortunately, Bangladesh is receiving plenty of orders now. Team Denim Focus talked with industry stakeholders to know about their business in 2021 and furcating for 2022. Mahbub Khan Himel, Director Mithela Textile Industries Limited (MTIL shared his views—

Denim Focus: How are you observing 2021 for your business?

Mahbub Khan Himel : By the grace of Allah, the global textile and apparel trade has grown very fast from mid of 2021 as international demand is increasing remarkably. But The textile industry in Bangladesh has suffered from the prolonged lockdown and restrictions in the beginning of 2021 along with the yarn prices going up rapidly which is still unpredictable. Besides dyes and chemicals prices also increase tremendously that is directly affected by the cost of production.

There has been a 50% rise in yarn prices and average 20 – 30% prices increased in basic chemicals and as a result 15-20% prices have been increased in the finished products.

In the current year the Covid-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges for supply chains globally. Multiple nations’ lockdowns continue to slow or even temporarily stop the flow of raw materials, disruption manufacturing the fabrics as a result. Mithela Textile is doing well so far even though this unstable situation exists globally in the textiles sector. We are handling strategically to make sure the quality of fabrics, consistency and customer relations as well as minimizing the resources in order to avoid any business impact in coming days

Denim Focus: What is your expectation and planning for 2022?

Mahbub Khan Himel: Mithela Textile Industries is a green category LEED platinum rated factory where sustainable practice is maintained very precisely as considering using less amount of water, no harmful dyes and chemicals, eco friendly dye house and using less energy for production processes. In addition to that, we are planning to reuse 100%(presently reusing 50%) of treated outlets in 2022 from our biological ETP. Mithela Textile is focused on prevention and control of water wastage, carbon emissions, land pollution and other areas for sustainable environment.

Mithela Textile is saving from every place like this because as the price of yarn, chemicals, accessories is increasing, if we do not save from every place, it will be very difficult for us to sustain. & The textile and garment industry will continue to grow in the coming year 2022 as Mithela Textile Industries expect the same. Order intake increased significantly and hopefully it would be further increased in next six months to one year. Mithela Textile is ready to produce 5 million meters fabrics with different diversifications as demand continues from our existing and new customers as well. We expect the textile clothing sectors in Bangladesh will be booming in the coming year and onwards In Sha Allah.
