Mango Celebrates the Role of Female Artists On International Women’s Day

Mango Celebrates the Role of Female Artists On International Women’s DayMango launches a capsule collection in collaboration with the Mexican artist Ana Leovy, to celebrate International Women’s Day, with an aim to recognize the achievements of women, by supporting and giving visibility to their talent. This collection is made up of two t-shirts and a tote bag for the Woman line that feature the artist’s illustrations and have been made using sustainable materials.

Ana Leovy is a young Mexican artist who principally works with gouache and acrylics. Her work centers on celebrating diversity, by creating stories through forms and color inspired by fashion, culture, dreams and everyday life. Her art aims to represent strong and confident characters, especially women, who live in vibrant worlds that are usually a fusion of real life and her imagination. Her work is recognizable for the way it plays with the disruption of the human form to reveal her perspective on beauty, both internal and external. As Ana says: “Both in my work and in my life, this duality of strength and sensibility that women possess is something that constantly inspires me. The opportunity to celebrate it today with my work is something very special. Mango is a brand I have admired for some time and being able to collaborate with it to pay tribute to and support the fight for gender equality is an honor”.

All profits obtained from the sale of this collection will be donated to the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (VFF) in order to promote gender-equality projects in southern India. The women’s sector of the VFF is currently focused on narrowing the gender gap (particularly educational and financial), as well as fighting against violence against women in all its forms and promoting the empowerment, independence and active participation of women in society. The collaboration between Mango and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation began in 2005 and has continued without pause since then in various projects and areas in which the organization acts.
