If industry is safe to work then country will get business automatically- Shafiur Rahman, Regional Operations Manager, G-Star RAWDue to the pandemic situation, European Union and the world put the effort into textiles, clothes, footwear, and accessories supply chains, in the midst of an ongoing social and climate crisis. On another hand, the COVID has seriously impacted major manufacturing hubs (China, India, and Italy), leading to major supply disorders. Textile industry is the heart of our economy. We have developed our industry a lot and there are so many remarkable developments we have already achieved i.e Green Industry, Compliance Factory, industry best practices etc. Team Denim Focus talked with industry owners and stakeholders and took quick feedback regarding the present business situation. Mr. Shafiur Rahman, Regional Operations Manager, G-Star RAW, Product Intelligence Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh, recently shared his opinion about the recent scenario of RMG industry with Denim Focus.

Human health & safety will play a key role for order & business trends. Covid is a human problem – so health and safety should be number one priority among re-covering, re-building, restructuring business etc. So better to prevent further transmission by taking necessary measures. Both employee & employer should be proactive enough to take responsibilities for ensuring win-win situations for both. 

It would not be helpful if a small part of the whole value chain is safe. Raw materials suppliers, don’t matter small or big – a wider safe value chain is essential for good business. If industry is safe to work – then the country will get business automatically.

Apart from above, additional value-added services like proposing design, R&D, better information flow, offering better material sourcing etc. If someone updates before asking order status by customers – weekly/monthly, depends on expectations.
