According to the partners, the shorter length of the wood-based 32MM fibers makes them more compatible with cotton, resulting in “An genuine appearance and superior washdowns…has exceptional smoothness and an incredibly velvety hand-feel.”

Although shorter, the fibers have a larger surface area, allowing them to connect more effectively with recycled material. The cotton was treated in the ‘circular park’ of Artistic Milliners. The fiber recycling plant, which was first announced in early 2021, is outfitted with precision-controlled technology from the French engineering firm Laroche. “Circularity is part of the central mission for Artistic Milliners, just as it is for Lenzing, but both companies are also passionate about creating beautiful, comfortable products,” said Omer Ahmed, managing director of the former.

Tuncay Kiliçkan, head of global business development for denim at Tencel producer Lenzing, hailed its “continuous research and development activities” with the denim manufacturer as beneficial to its ambitions, with the possibility to “push the target even further.”
