Recently BGMEA newly elected young Director from Chattogram region Tanvir Habib, Managing Director, Legacy Fashion Ltd & Director of Habib Group shared his vision for RMG industry development with the Denim Focus team.
Denim Focus: How do you want to contribute at BGMEA as elected director in a hard time in industry?
Tanvir Habib: During this turmoil period one of the important issues, I would like to take up is our operational costs are rising whilst our buyers’ prices are getting completive every season. I feel one of the core cost-saving areas would be training our factories to have a standard man to machine ratio which is the key to keep our ready-made garments sector sustainable.

Most of us young leaders have been working on it but we have been facing resistance from the mid-level management. It’s the mid-level management who actually controls the production process of the factories. Being on the board I would like to focus on implementing professional training to help us to implement lean management and skill matrix to save waste and improve productivity apart from automation.
We second generation BODs have seen our father’s personality, working dedication for the RMG community through BGMEA, and also within their limited personal capacity. We would like to carry on their Legacy at BGMEA and work on rebranding Bangladesh as one of the top apparel sourcing hubs in the world.
