Jeanologia ‘Reinvents’ Textile Finishing in Egypt

On the heels of its 30th birthday, Jeanologia brought three decades of sustainable innovation a few hours east of its Valencia headquarters to Cairo, as the Spanish textile technologist showcased its sustainable solutions to the budding hub at Egypt Stitch & Tex.

Held Feb. 20-23, the show serves as the largest textile machinery fair in the country. During the 19th international iteration, the sustainable finishing firm highlighted several synergetic efforts, including its G2 ozone technology and Indra patented system as well as its eFlow technology and H2Zero. As the Egyptian textile industry continues to gain economic momentum—in line with the country’s 2025 vision of ranking as a regional textile hub—Jeanologia believes these solutions will be essential to achieving that vision.

“Egypt’s textile market is evolving rapidly, and our advanced laser and G2 Indra technologies are designed to meet the growing demands for efficiency, safety and environmental responsibility,” Mahmoud Hassan, Jeanologia’s area manager in Egypt, said. “We are proud to offer solutions that not only improve production quality and design possibilities but also set a new benchmark for sustainable practices in the industry.” H2Zero is a closed-loop system that treats water—leaving it in “optimal condition” for reuse (during the washing and finishing processes) without chemicals. The system is designed to reduce water consumption and offer the best productivity and performance with minimal electric consumption in a production center.

Jeanologia’s other technologies, too, work together to save water. The Spanish Fashion Academy Award winner’s eFlow technology uses nanobubbles of air that “carry” chemicals into a garment instead of the traditional transporter (water), thus making zero discharge possible while using as little water as possible. Refined over the last 25 years is Jeanologia’s laser technology, which now offers a fully automated process to replace the hazardous, incumbent techniques. Countering the laser is Jeanologia’s G2 Indra technology, what the Open Lab initiative member calls the “perfect partner” in the sustainable finishing process. Instead of washing with water and chemicals, G2 Indra uses air, drastically decreasing chemical usage and water consumption. Together, these two technologies permanently eliminated the need for potassium permanganate (PP) spray and the pumice stone washing process.

These innovations, the Tommy Hilfiger partner said, can embolden Egyptian textile manufacturers to drive automation efforts and optimize resource efficiency processes while meeting international sustainability standards. Looking ahead, the Cone Denim collaborator “remains committed” to creating an “eco-efficient,” ethical textile future. As such, Jeanologia encourages all industry stakeholders to join its Mission Zero initiative, which works to dehydrate and detoxify the textile industry. Egypt Stitch & Tex is jointly held by business-to-business exhibition organizer Vision Fairs and Business Plus Fairs, an Emirati holdings group serving various sectors, including commercial, trading and events management. Since 2007, over 360,000 attendees representing 4,500-plus brands across 35 countries have attended Stitch & Tex Expos.
