Dutch denim brand G-Star has launched the world’s most sustainable black denim fabric, ‘Relz Black Denim’ in 8 styles for its winter collection 2020, together with chemical company Archroma & clothing manufacturer Artistic Milliners. This fabric is made from pure organic cotton, dyed & treated without using any harmful chemical, thus profiting both people and the environment.
To ‘Relz Black Denim’ fabric, the dye is applied in a 5 step process instead of the conventional 8-10 steps, saving around 52% water, 65% energy, 71% CO2 emissions & 14% chemicals. The left-behind wastewater from the black liquid dye & the pigment coating is easy to clean & reusable.
Raw Relz Black Denim is the first black denim to achieve the Gold Status certification by the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute. This certification is awarded to the products which are safe, circular & responsibly produced. G-Star’s long-standing cooperation partners, both Artistic Milliners and Archroma, have helped the brand achieve this honor.
G-Star’s 8 most sustainable black denim styles take account of a Lined Denim Peacoat, a Button Pencil Skirt, Ultra-High Mom & Dad Ankle Jeans, Boyfriend Crop Jeans, Ultra-High Straight Ankle Jeans and a Bomber Jacket. All of them are available online at g-star.com and in G-Star stores.
