Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called on Uruguay to enhance people-to-people connectivity through sports, aiming to boost bilateral engagements in trade and business cooperation.
This call was made during a courtesy meeting with the non-resident Ambassador of Uruguay to Bangladesh, Mr. Alberto A. Guani, at the State Guest House Jamuna, Dhaka. The meeting also included Mostafa Quamrus Sobhan, Honorary Consul of Uruguay to Bangladesh.
Ambassador Guani emphasized the unexplored cooperation potential between Uruguay and Bangladesh in various sectors, praising Bangladesh as a pioneer in social business. He highlighted sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, semiconductors, UAV/drones, satellites, and IT as areas for collaboration.
The Chief Adviser stressed the shared passion for sports, especially football, as a bridge for deeper cooperation. He invited Ambassador Guani to explore investment opportunities in Bangladesh, particularly in renewable and clean energy, advocating for leveraging each other’s competitive advantages.
The meeting saw attendance from Lamiya Morshed, Principal Coordinator for SDG affairs, and officials from the Chief Adviser’s office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
