This International Women’s Day, Burberry continues their legacy of championing women who have shaped past, supporting women today to push the boundaries of possibility and helping the next generation create a more equitable and inclusive world.
They are proud to provide ongoing support to both the National Literacy Trust and The Prince’s Trust Women Supporting Women initiatives. Building on our work to help youth gain literacy skills in November 2021, our donation to NLT will provide a bespoke pack of 12 books from their International Women’s Day booklist and other resources to students within the same 10 schools participating in that initiative. Through this donation, we want to encourage young students to expand their literary horizons in their formative years and be inspired by diverse women’s stories. Additionally, our funding to The Prince’s Trust will continue to provide vital tools and support to help young women gain access to opportunities across employment, entrepreneurship, education and training.
Some of Burberry’s latest actions underpinning our goals include:
- From this month, launching specialist advice, counselling and other resources for all colleagues experiencing menopause and their partners and family members.
- Broadening our talent pipeline through leadership development programmes, funding creative arts scholarships and investing in our mentorship offering, particularly to elevate diverse women leaders.
- Launching a summit featuring prominent women leaders and active allies. Taking place later this year, it will bring together Burberry colleagues and beneficiaries of our programmes to discuss the most immediate challenges to achieving gender equality and inspire everyone to be changemakers.
- Actively engaging with our growing employee networks, Internal D&I Council and Cultural Advisory Council to challenge us and ensure our programmes are driving positive impact.
