Last week Bureau 555 was invited by University of Dhaka Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department to speak at ‘A Seminar on Robotics in Bangladesh : Academia and Industry Initiatives’ at Rafiqul Islam Khan Auditorium, University of Dhaka
Nmzeaul Alam Senior secretary of ICT was chief guest, special guests Professor Hafiz Md Hasan Babu , Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Dhaka University and Nahid Sultana Mallik , Joint secretary of ICT and Joint Project Director Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Project, ICT Division were in attendance and the day was chaired by Dr. Sejuti Rahman Chairperson of DU Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department. Students from University of Dhaka and National Institute of Textile Engineering & Research – NITER
In the seminar the co-founders of Bureau 555 Nusrat Mahmud and Gabrielle Shiner-Hill discussed how AI is currently used within fashion and textile industry, showcasing Swatchbook Mix 2.0, Heritech’s AI trend forecasting and how and when AI and art converge in the fashion industry. Gabby & Nusrat reiterated the importance of digital sampling to shorten the sample lead time, conserve resources, and how digital sampling can aid design iteration.
Gabby said, “We make digital textile & digital garments by means of 3D garments so we can design and develop in 3D before we actually produce the garments. We are trying to save resources and reduce fabric wastage in the supply chain”. The talk was followed by a lively round of questions and answers from the students who were
eager to know more about Bureau 555.
