After a two-year pandemic, representatives of the man-made fiber industry as well as the chemical industry, mechanical engineering, the press and, of course, numerous users finally met again in Dornbirn from 14 – 16 September. 570 participants from over 30 countries, even from Asia and America, gave presentations and engaged in discussions. The main topic was the circular economy, but also special fibers or smart textiles were dealt with.
At the conference, presentations on topics such as fibre innovations; sustainability, circular economy and recycling; smart functional surface; nonwovens; and apparel and sports were presented in the 3 halls at the venue.
Dornbirn GFC online on demand is available from September 19-October 2, 2022. It will offer the opening of the Dornbirn GFC 2022, awarding of the Paul Schlack Prize, CEO panel with keynote speakers, 100 expert lectures from industry, universities and research institutes, discussion session with the speakers, and an exhibition area.
The Paul Schlack/Wilhelm Albrecht Prize 2022 was awarded to the following innovative projects: Dr. Robert Tonndorf. TU Dresden, ITM, convinced the jury with his project: ‘Development of manufacturing technologies for the production of biomimetic fibre-based scaffolds from collagen for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine’. The honorary prize was awarded to Leonie Reinders, DIFT Denkendorf. She convinced the jury with her project: ‘Development of novel oxide ceramic fibres for high-temperature applications’.
Textile department from Hochschule Niederrhein was strongly represented with four presentations: Ms. von Bentum, CTL, spoke about the Last Mile in e-commerce, Dr. Klinkhammer, FTB, presented fibers with inherent UV and IR protection with simultaneous release of vitamin D, and Dr. Rohleder, FTB, the permanent silvering of cotton for use in Smart PPE. Prof. Dr. Susanne Müller explained “The Challenge of New Luxury” in an overarching presentation. The breaks, with the hospitality Austria is known for, were used for intensive networking, including with numerous graduates of our department who are today successfully working in industry or also as PhD students in various institutes in Europe. We can be proud of this broad presence. Everyone comes back with good ideas.
