In terms of denim garment exports to the United States, Bangladesh has surpassed Mexico and China. It shipped $798.42 million worth of denim garments to the United States in 2021, an increase of 42.25 percent year on year.
Denim garment imports in the United States climbed by 31.36 percent to $3.68 billion in 2021. Despite the United States’ inability to achieve its 2019 import values in the denim clothing category, Bangladesh’s share climbed to 21.70 percent in 2021 from 15.65 percent in 2019.
Mexico exported denim apparels worth $ 654.87 million to the United States in 2021, up 39.60 percent year over year, while China slid to fifth place in only two years, earning $387.91 million from denim clothing exports to the United States in 2021. Despite the short-term interruptions caused by COVID-19 in Vietnam, the nation had its highest export revenues in this category in three years in 2021, with a shipment valued at $402.29 million, up from $368.18 million in 2020 and $372.02 million in 2019.
