Replay to introduce ‘double green’ claim for new denim

Italian company Fashion Box’s Replay brand is launching a new denim in partnership with fabric manufacturer ISKO for which it is claiming ‘double green’ credentials.

The new Hyperflex Re-Used material blends lower impact raw materials with both reused cotton and recycled polyester – which is Replay’s justification for the ‘double green’ claim. Waste cotton fibres that are normally lost during the spinning process make up around 10 per cent of the cotton, while the recycled polyester is created from recycled PET bottles and other waste. Replay has launched a collection of both skinny and straight jeans for men and women with the new material, selling at a hefty £150 (US$196) per pair.

In a statement, Replay said the new material reinforced its focus on sustainability and met the most stringent internationally-recognised eco-friendly standards. “With this product, Replay takes new steps towards a broad and consistent project approach that impacts all stages of the production process,” the statement continued.

“The goal was to create a unique product making a further step into the sustainability cycle that would reconfirm Replay and ISKO as innovators in the sector.” ISKO, a brand of Turkey’s Sanko Group, claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of denim, producing more than 250 million metres of fabric a year for customers in more than 60 countries.
